Biography
Sayuri Cheruvu, MD is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist with over a decade of clinical experience. She joins Northwest Cancer Centers with a deep commitment to compassionate, community-based cancer care. She brings extensive expertise in solid tumors, with particular clinical interest in breast and gastrointestinal malignancies.
Following her Internal Medicine residency at Wright State University, Dr. Cheruvu completed her Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati, where she trained across high-volume academic and VA medical centers, with focused experience in the autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation.
Since 2019, she has served as a hematologist-oncologist in the community setting in her adopted home community of Northwest Indiana; caring for a wide breadth of patients while participating in multidisciplinary cancer management, resident education, and community oncology initiatives.
Dr. Cheruvu has long been an advocate for equitable access to high-quality oncology care. She is known for her patient-centered approach, thoughtful communication style, and dedication to supporting patients and families through complex cancer journeys. Patients consistently commend her for her thorough, compassionate approach, and commitment to improving quality of life during treatment.
Outside of medicine, she finds balance through creative and cultural passions. She enjoys sewing, practices yoga, and is deeply connected to Indian classical music. These interests nourish her sense of mindfulness, artistry, and community.
